Nicholsons Butchers in Whitley Bay was recently recognised in the National Craft Butchers Product Awards, securing two Gold, three Silver and one Bronze award after more than 300 products from butchers across the UK were put through their paces by an expert judging panel.
The business, which is owned and run by Kathryn Meadows, picked up Gold in the Traditional Sausage category for its pork sausage, as well as Gold for its steak pie in the Hot Eating Pie category.
Its Lincolnshire sausage also received Silver in the Traditional Sausage category, while its Boerewors and Italian offerings both picked up Silver awards in the Innovative Sausage category.
Rounding off the meaty haul was a Bronze award for Marks Black Pudding in the Traditional Black Pudding category.
The Gold awards mean Nicholsons will now go head-to-head with other category winners to be crowned the overall champion in both categories, with the results due to be announced in mid-October.
Kathryn says: “The Nicholson’s team really is something special. They work incredibly hard and put so much care, skill and commitment into everything we do, so it’s wonderful to see that recognised.”
