A popular North East Mexican restaurant is expanding to Newcastle, with Tia’s Mexican Cantina set to open a new restaurant at The Gate.
Owner Steven Martin and Gabriel Petre have unveiled plans for the new 150-cover restaurant, which is currently undergoing a major refurbishment.
Around 30 jobs will be created when the restaurant opens, with recruitment underway for chefs, bar staff, waiting staff and mixologists.
Steven Martin, co-director of Kaleido Ltd, said: “Tia’s in Durham has always been hugely popular and we thought the time was right to replicate that success in Newcastle and at The Gate. The menu will reflect all the favourite Tex-Mex style dishes – with a few surprises thrown in at the same time.”
An opening date has yet to be confirmed, but it’s another welcome addition to Newcastle’s ever-growing food and drink scene!
