The ultimate unboxing experience is heading to Newcastle this week, as French start-up King Colis prepares to offload 10 tonnes of ‘lost’ parcels at Eldon Square.
Following huge success in cities such as Paris, Rome, Madrid and Stockholm, the Lost Parcels pop-up arrives in Newcastle from Monday 20th to Sunday 26th April 2026.
Thousands of undelivered packages – lost in the postal system due to simple address errors – will be piled high, with shoppers given a 10-minute window to dig through and choose their prizes. There’s just one catch: you won’t know what’s inside until you’ve paid for your haul, priced by weight at a flat rate of £2.50 per 100g.
This viral phenomenon has seen participants across Europe unbox everything from iPads and a rare Pokémon card valued at £2,000 to luxury watches and beauty tech.
The event also carries a strong environmental message. Since 2023, King Colis has saved over 2,000 tonnes of goods set to be destroyed by the logistics companies who transport them. By purchasing these lost items, shoppers are helping to reduce waste and give perfectly good products a second life.
The pop-up will be located next to Fenwick at Eldon Square’s Northumberland Street entrance. Doors open on Monday at 2pm, with standard 9am to 7pm hours throughout the week and late-night shopping until 8pm on Thursday. Sunday trading will run from 11am to 5pm.
Admission is free, although children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A limited number of ‘Fast Passes’ are also available for £15 via www.king-colis.co.uk.
