Lane 7 has officially landed in The Gate, adding a fresh dose of entertainment and fun to Newcastle city centre.

What is Lane 7?
Lane 7 first brought its boutique bowling experience to Newcastle in 2013. You could say it made bowling cool again for us grown ups.
It was never just about the ten pin bowling though. The venue established itself as a one-stop destination for a top night out by also offering a blend of good food, drinks, ping pong, karaoke and other fun activities under one seriously stylish roof.
And now, more than a decade and 20+ venues later across the UK, Ireland and Germany, Lane 7 has come full circle with a second venue here in Newcastle.
Inside Lane 7 - bowling, games and more
The latest Lane 7 on the block is housed in the building that, to me, will always be known as the old Tiger Tiger. It’s a prime location in Newcastle city centre, making it the perfect spot for starting – or ending – your day or night out.
Entertainment of all sorts is spread across three levels, giving those ‘child in a sweet shop’ vibes as you make your way from floor to floor to see what you’ll uncover next.
Beer pong, darts, arcade games and retro computer games are located on the ground level, with karaoke and pool on the first floor.
Up on the top floor (which was always the place to be in its former life!) you’ll find bowling, shuffleboard and – my personal highlight – the playgrounds.
The playgrounds are interactive games projected onto the floor, where you need to move your full body and chase around coloured shapes, symbols and lit-up paths. We played a version of air hockey, using our feet as discs to bounce a white dot between us. It was lots of fun – and an unexpectedly good workout!
Food and drink options
Similar to the building’s old layout, swish bars are located on the ground and top floors, giving you a chance to chat and chill in between all your gaming action.
You can also order bar snacks, pizzas, hot dogs and nachos from the food menu – plenty to keep those energy levels up!
The vibe
Stepping inside Lane 7 feels like an adventure playground for adults, ideal for a date night, socialising with your colleagues or just hanging out with your mates.
Gold glitter balls shimmer above, with bold graffiti-style murals and neon signs strewn across the walls. You’ll also find artwork with a nod to the Toon.
Inside, the loos are even like mini discos. Washing my hands to Footloose with lights swirling all around made for a memorable toilet trip!
It’s bright. It’s brash. It’s buzzing. And it screams ‘fun’ from every corner.
Planning your visit
Ready to get bowled over by this new addition to our social scene?
Lane 7 is open Sunday to Thursday from 11am to midnight, and Friday and Saturday 11am to 1am.
It’s located at The Gate on Newgate Street within short walking distance of Haymarket’s bus and Metro stations.
You can book a package, which includes different bowling, games and drink combos. Or, you can select specific activities. Prices are also cheaper on weekdays compared to weekends. For bowling, karaoke and pool, pre-booking is recommended.
It’s also worth noting the venue has an over 18s-only policy after 7pm.
And, in case you’re wondering, Lane 7’s OG Newcastle venue on St James’ Boulevard remains open as usual. For more information, visit lane7.com.
