Plotting your next brunch stop? Here are three of the best cafés in Ponteland and Darras Hall to add to your weekend plans.
Brunching in Ponteland and Darras Hall has quietly become one of my Saturday rituals.
From cosy neighbourhood cafés to super stylish bistros, there’s no shortage of places to settle in for a slow morning and indulge in a comforting brunch.
If you’re looking for a change of scene from your usual go-to spots in and around Newcastle, here are three places worth a visit.
Sip'n'Loaf
The vibe: A cosy and inviting space that feels a little like a home away from home. It’s the perfect spot for a laid-back brunch, best suited to mellow mornings and long catch-ups.
On the menu: Expect brunch classics to suit both sweet and savoury cravings – think Eggs Florentine, homemade granola, smashed avocado on sourdough, and (my personal favourite) American-style pancakes.
Vault and Vine
The vibe: A design-led café with woven lampshades suspended from the ceiling, complemented by oversized gold leaves and foliage motifs across the walls.
On the menu: You’ll find firm favourites like breakfast bagels, avocado toast, and dippy eggs and soldiers, alongside playful twists on the classics, including croffles (where croissants meet waffles) and cinnamon-dipped French toast fingers.
Elkwater
The vibe: A polished yet relaxed spot with a boutique-bistro vibe. A statement tree and skylight create a striking focal point, and there’s also an adjoining lifestyle store filled with beautiful gifts, homeware and accessories.
On the menu: Build your own breakfast from 18 different ingredients, or opt for favourites like croque monsieur, porridge, a bacon bap, and toasted crumpets.
