Discover Fentimans’ enchanting Botanical Garden at Fenwick Newcastle – a celebration of flavour, florals and 120 years of botanical brewing.

Fenwick has done it again. Hot on the heels of its Tea and Toasties cafe with fashion powerhouse Barbour, the department store has unveiled a new collaboration with another beloved North East name: Fentimans.

Rose lemonade, ginger beer, dandelion and burdock, cherry cola – these are just some of the nostalgic drinks that Fentimans is known for, not just here in our region but worldwide, too.

Based in Hexham, and still family-run, the business is celebrating 120 years of its unique botanical brewing process. And what better way to mark this milestone than by bringing its signature flavours to life in a dreamy pop up?

Say hello to the gorgeous Botanical Garden.

The Botanical Garden experience

As you step beneath a floral archway, this is your first hint of the beautiful blooms that await around the corner.

Inside, flowers, cascading foliage, vintage-style garden furniture and plush chairs and sofas create a sumptuous space that’s awash with bold cotton candy, tangerine and lemon tones.

It’s an Instagrammer’s dream.

At the front, tables and chairs offer the perfect setup for a long lunch with friends, while low-slung seating and coffee tables provide a more casual drinking experience.

Signature flavours

As you’d expect, the food and drinks menu takes inspiration from Fentimans’ iconic flavours, all featuring a subtle botanical twist.

Picture floral flatbreads drizzled with an elderflower vinaigrette, fresh botanical salads and hearty breakfasts. The bacon stottie, made with back bacon marinated in Curiosity Cola, sounds curiously different and something I’d like to try!

You’ll also find cocktail snacks – think olives, beetroot hummus, watermelon, and frittata.

As for the drinks, these are grouped into different themes, including Botanical Brews (coffee-infused cocktails), the Garden Spritz Ensemble combining prosecco with bold bitters and floral and citrus notes, and the vibrant Floral Fizz Collection.

My pick? The Botanists’ Buzz – a delicate, fragrant concoction made with Hepple Gin, Oriental Yuzi Tonic, honey, citrus and sage.

If cocktails aren’t your thing, wine, bottled lager, tea, coffee, matcha, hot chocolate and fruit juices also feature on the menu, giving you plenty of choice.

Worth a visit?

This pop-up brings the outdoors in with its lush floral displays and greenery, blending Fentimans’ heritage with a stylish, immersive setting.

The menu features an imaginative take on classic dishes and really does showcase the flavours we’ve come to recognise and love from Fentimans over the years.

I’d say this collaboration is another hit for Fenwick, but if you’re hoping to visit, don’t wait too long as it’s only around for a few more weeks.
